Některé akce, jako třeba aktualizace seznamu balíků, může provádět
pouze uživatel <code class="systemitem">root</code>. Máte-li <span class="command"><strong>aptitude</strong></span> spuštěnou pod běžným
uživatelem a pokusíte se provést akci, která vyžaduje <code class="systemitem">root</code>ovská
práva, <span class="command"><strong>aptitude</strong></span> se vás zeptá, zda se chcete přepnout na uživatele
<code class="systemitem">root</code>.

Pokud zvolíte <span class="quote">„<span class="quote">Stát se rootem</span>“</span>, <span class="command"><strong>aptitude</strong></span> se vás zeptá
na příslušné heslo a bude-li správné, provede požadovanou akci.
Pozor! Uživatelem <code class="systemitem">root</code> zůstanete i po dokončení akce!

Pro přepnutí na účet uživatele <code class="systemitem">root</code> nemusíte čekat, až spustíte
<span class="quote">„<span class="quote">choulostivou</span>“</span> akci, ale kdykoliv můžete použít příkaz
<span class="guimenu">Akce</span> → <span class="guimenuitem">Stát se rootem</span>. Veškeré změny, které jste provedli ještě jako běžný
uživatel, budou zachovány (ovšem uloží se až při ukončení <span class="command"><strong>aptitude</strong></span>).
