#!N #!Rtall213 Tangents, Normals, and Binormals
Components #!N #!N #!N The "normals" component is used to specify
a local surface normal for rendering purposes. The "tangents," "normals" and
"binormals" components specify a local reference frame on a path; this
is useful, for example, for twisted-ribbon representations of streamlines. #!N #!N
Normals are used for, among other things, surface shading. By convention,
the normals are expected to point out from the front of
a surface, as defined in #!Lcolcom,dxall207 h Colors, Front Colors, and Back Colors Components #!EL . Normals are expected to
have unit length. #!N #!N #!N #!F-adobe-times-medium-i-normal--18* Next Topic #!EF #!N
