<title>VPN へ接続する</title>

<p>VPN (<em>Virtual Private Network</em>) とはインターネット経由でローカルのネットワークに接続する方法です。たとえば、出張中に勤務先のローカルネットワークに接続したいとします。どこか (ホテルなど) でインターネット接続を見つけたとして、勤務先の VPN に接続します。実際にはホテルのインターネット接続を経由していながら、まるで勤務先のネットワークに直接、接続しているように接続することができます。VPN 接続は通常、ログインしていないユーザーによるローカルネットワークへのアクセスを防ぐため<em>暗号化</em>されます。</p>

<p>VPN にはいくつか異なる種類があります。接続する VPN の種類によっては追加ソフトウェアを別途インストールしなければならないことがあります。VPN 担当者に接続の詳細を問い合わせ、必要な <em>VPN クライアント</em>を確認します。次に、ソフトウェアインストーラーアプリケーションを起動し、目的の VPN 用の <app>NetworkManager</app> パッケージを検索し、(見つかれば) インストールします。</p>

 <p>お使いの VPN 用の NetworkManager パッケージがない場合、VPN ソフトウェアの提供会社のクライアントソフトウェアをダウンロードしてインストールしなければならないでしょう。正しく設定するには別の手順に従ってください。</p>

<p>必要な作業を完了したら VPN 接続の設定を行います。</p>

      <p><gui xref="shell-terminology">アクティビティ</gui>画面を開き、<gui>Network</gui> と入力します。</p>

      <p>Click on <gui>Network</gui> to open the control center.</p>
    </item>
    <item>
      <p>At the bottom of the list on the left, click the <gui>+</gui> button
      to add a new connection.</p>
    </item>
    <item>
      <p>Choose <gui>VPN</gui> in the interface list.</p>
    </item>
    <item>
      <p>Choose which kind of VPN connection you have.</p>
    </item>
    <item>
      <p>Fill in the VPN connection details, then press <gui>Add</gui> once you
      are finished.</p>
    </item>
    <item>
      <p>When you have finished setting-up the VPN, click the system status
      area on the top bar, click <gui>VPN</gui> and select the connection you
      just created. You may need to enter a password for the connection before
      it is established. Once the connection is made, you will see a lock
      shaped icon in the top bar.</p>

      <p>Hopefully you will successfully connect to the VPN. If not, you may
      need to double-check the VPN settings you entered. You can do this from
      the <gui>Network</gui> panel that you used to create the connection,
      select the VPN connection from the list, then press the button in the
      bottom right corner of the panel.</p>

      <p>To disconnect from the VPN, click the system status area on the top
      bar and click <gui>Turn Off</gui> under the name of your VPN
      connection.</p>
