 #!Rtcntxec Controlling Execution with Switch #!N #!EC #!N #!N  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   Switch
#!EF allows you to decide which portions of a visual program
are executed (e.g., whether a data set is visualized with #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*
Isosurface #!EF or  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   MapToPlane #!EF ). #!N #!I0 #!N  #!F-adobe-times-medium-r-normal--18*
#!N #!N #!I30 #!N 1. Open visual program .../Switch.net. #!N #!I30
#!N 2. Select  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   Execute on Change #!EF in the  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*
Execute #!EF pull-down menu. The image that appears is a streamline
representation of the data set. #!N #!I30 #!N 3. Select  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*
Open All Control Panels #!EF in the #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18* Windows #!EF pull-down
menu. You can now use the selector interactor to switch from
one visualization to the other. #!N #!I0 #!N #!EF #!N #!N
#!N You can modify the selector interactor and increase the number
of choices. #!N #!I0 #!N  #!F-adobe-times-medium-r-normal--18*   #!N #!N #!I30 #!N 1.
Double click on the interactor to open the #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18* Set Selector
Attributes #!EF dialog box. #!N #!I30 #!N 2. Double click on
the #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18* Value #!EF parameter field and type "3" in that
space. #!N #!I30 #!N 3. Double click on the  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   Label
#!EF parameter field and type "MapToPlane." in that space. Note: The
integer passed from #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18* Selector #!EF to the first input tab
of #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18* Switch #!EF determines what input, if any, is passed
on to another module. If the integer is "0" or greater
than the number of objects being passed to the module, the
output is NULL. Thus, "1" selects the first input (second input
tab), "2" the second input (third input tab), and so on.
#!N #!I30 #!N 4. Click on  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   Add #!EF . A
new third line should appear under the first two. #!N #!I30
#!N 5. Click on #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18* OK #!EF to close the dialog
box. If you click on the option button in the selector,
you will see that it now offers a third choice. Leave
the control panel open. #!N #!I0 #!N #!EF #!N #!N #!N
The third choice shown in the Selector, however, is not yet
operative (select #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18* MapToPlane #!EF in the control panel and reexecute
the visual program). To implement this choice, you must incorporate a
third visualization in the program, such as that represented by the
program segment on the right side of the VPE canvas. This
segment computes a MapToPlane of temperature data. #!N #!I0 #!N  #!F-adobe-times-medium-r-normal--18*
#!N #!N #!I30 #!N 1. Click on the  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   Switch #!EF
icon to highlight it. #!N #!I30 #!N 2. Select  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   Add
Input Tab #!EF in the  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   Edit #!EF pull-down menu. A
new input tab is added to #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18* Switch #!EF . #!N
#!I30 #!N 3. Connect the first ("mapped") output tab of the
 #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18* AutoColor #!EF icon (below the MapToPlane icon) to the new
input tab of  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   Switch #!EF . #!N #!I30 #!N 4.
Select #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18* MapToPlane #!EF in the control panel and reexecute the
visual program. The #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18* MapToPlane #!EF visualization appears in the Image
window. #!N #!I0 #!N #!EF #!N Note: Switch selects among inputs.
The corresponding module that selects among outputs is Route. Both are
described in IBM Visualization Data Explorer User's Reference. #!N #!N #!N
