<a href="http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page.php?site_id=nrsi&cat_id=TECkit" rel="nofollow">TECkit</a> is a toolkit to help in converting character sets and scripts. Without TECkit Bibledit works fine, and with TECkit it gets extra capabilities to convert texts through scripts.

<p>
To install TECkit, follow the below steps.
</p>
<p>
Download the newest source package from the <a href="http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page.php?site_id=nrsi&item_id=TECkitDownloads" rel="nofollow">TECkit downloads page</a>. At the time of writing the package was available at <a href="http://scripts.sil.org/svn-view/teckit/TAGS/TECkit_2_5_1.tar.gz" rel="nofollow">http://scripts.sil.org/svn-view/teckit/TAGS/TECkit_2_5_1.tar.gz</a>, but as updates become available this may change.

<p>
Move the package to the home directory
</p>
<p>
Open a terminal.
</p>
<p>
In the terminal, to verify the package is there, type
</p>
<pre>
ls
</pre>
<p>
To unpack TECkit type
</p>
<pre>
tar zxf TECkit_x_x_x.tar.gz
</pre>
<p>
The x_x_x above represents a version number.
</p>
<p>
To enter the newly created directory, type
</p>
<pre>
cd TECkit_*
</pre>
<p>
To configure the package, type
</p>
<pre>
sh configure --prefix=/usr
</pre>
<p>
Watch many messages, but no errors.
</p>
<p>
To compile the package, type
</p>
<pre>
make
</pre>
<p>
Watch many messages, but no errors.
</p>
<p>
To install the package type
</p>
<pre>
sudo make install
</pre>
<p>
and provide the password. Watch many messages, but no errors.
</p>
<p>
TECkit should be installed now and is ready for use.
