<title>Ao iniciar o Terminal de GNOME por primeira vez</title>
<para>Ao iniciar o <application>Terminal de GNOME</application>por primeira vez o aplicativo abre unha xanela de terminal cun grupo de opcións predefinidas. O grupo de opcións predefinidas chámase Perfil predeterminado. O nome do perfil aparece na barra de título da xanela do <application>Terminal de GNOME</application>.</para>

<para>A xanela de terminal mostra un indicador de liña de ordes no que pode escribir ordes de UNIX. O indicador de liña de ordes pode ser un %, #, >, $, ou calquera outro carácter especial. O cursor está situado no indicador da liña de ordes. Cando escribe unha orde de UNIX e preme <keycap>Intro</keycap>, o computador executa a orde. De forma predeterminada o <application>Terminal de GNOME</application> emprega o intérprete de ordes prederminado especificado para o usuario que inicia o aplicativo.</para>

<title>Perfís de terminal</title>
<para>Pode crear un novo perfil, e aplicar o novo perfil ao terminal para modificar características como o tipo de letra, a cor e os efectos, o comportamento do desprazamento, o título da xanela e a compatibilidade. Tamén pode especificar no perfil unha orde que se executa automaticamente ao iniciar o <application>Terminal de GNOME</application>.</para>
<para>Os perfís de terminal defínense na caixa de diálogo <guilabel>Perfís</guilabel>, á cal se pode acceder desde o menú <guimenu>Editar</guimenu>. Pode definir tantos perfís como lle fagan falta. Ao iniciar un terminal, poderá escoller o perfil co que desexa empregar o terminal. Tamén pode cambiar o perfil de terminal ao empregar o terminal. Para especificar un perfil inicial para un terminal cando inicia o aplicativo desde unha liña de ordes empregue a seguinte orde:</para>

<title>Traballo con varios terminais</title>
