<description>This is a subset of the Barro and Lee 138-country panel 
dataset of 1994, which is available from the NBER website

The variables are constructed as follows (note that the Barro-
Lee series each take the form of an international cross-section
for a given year):

y: taken from the series gdpsh550 gdpsh555 gdpsh560 gdpsh565 
   gdpsh570 gdpsh575 gdpsh580 and gdpsh585, from the Barro-Lee
   file gdpsh5.prn; original source, version 5.5 of the Penn
   World Table. Real GDP per capita (1985 international prices).

s: taken from the series invsh51 invsh52 invsh53 invsh54 and
   invsh55, from the Barro-Lee file gdpsh5.prn; original source
   as above. Ratio of real domestic investment (private plus 
   public) to real GDP.

n: taken from the series gpop1 gpop2 gpop3 gpop4 gpop5, from the
   Barro-Lee file fert.prn; original source, version 5.0 of the
   Penn World Table. Growth rate of population.

All of the source series are screened using the variable smpl97,
from Barro-Lee file codes.prn, to restrict the sample to the 97
&quot;better data&quot; countries.
