<title>Permission mask</title>
<p>
ACL entries imply an additional entry called <em>mask</em>. The mask
defines effective permissions that can have user entries (except for the owner),
group owner and group entries.
</p>
<p>
If the mask disallows a permission to be effective <app>MATE Eiciel</app> puts an exclamation
mark next to the uneffective permission.
</p>
