--  This package provides the "flat" Element classification for internal
--  implementation purposes. This classification is equivalent to the element
--  classification hierarchy defined in the Asis package, but it is not
--  supposed to be used by application. In applications another package -
--  Asis.Extensions.Flat_Kinds should be used. It provides the same
--  classification but without implementation-specific values used in
--  the internal flat classification

package A4G.Int_Knds is

   --  The way how the flat classification is obtained from the hierarchy is
   --  straightforward: all the enumeration values of the ASIS Element_Kinds
   --  type, which represent kinds having subordinate subkinds are recursively
   --  replaced with the enumeration values of the subordinate kinds
   --  (excluding Not_A_... starting values). A very few exceptions corresponds
   --  to the situation where in the ASIS-defined Element classification we
   --  have not  hierarchy, but some kind of a net (for example, there is a
   --  classification of access types applied both to ordinary type definitions
   --  and to formal type definitions. For such cases, the flat classification
   --  introduces new (self-descriptive) names.
   --
   --  The type in the used as the internal  flat classification is named
   --  Internal_Element_Kinds. It contains some additional (related to the
   --  original ASIS Element classification) values which are needed by the
   --  ASIS implementation, they are placed in the very end of the
   --  enumeration literal specification list from its type definition.
   --  There is another type representing the flat classification -
   --  Asis.Extensions.Flat_Kinds.Flat_Element_Kinds. It is defined as
   --  derived from the subtype of Internal_Element_Kinds with the range
   --  constraint which cuts out implementation-specific values.
